Pick 3 drawings take place twice a day. There is a Midday draw at 1:30 p.m. and an Evening draw at 9:45 p.m.
Tickets are available until 1:19 p.m. for the Midday draw, and 9:34 p.m. for the Evening draw.
To play Pick 3, select three numbers from 0 to 9. Find out more on the How to Play page. You can choose between a variety of play styles – Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Combo, Front Pair and Back Pair.
A Straight Play requires you to match the winning orders in the exact order they are drawn. With a Box, you can match the winning numbers in any order. For example, if you pick the numbers 1-2-3 and the winning line is 3-2-1, you would win with a Box play but not with a Straight.
The prize amount you can win depends on your play type. There is a larger payout for winning on a Straight than a Box, for example, because it is harder to win. The top prize on a Straight is $500 (for a $1 play).
For most play types, you have the option between a $0.50 wager and a $1 wager. When you play a Combo, you pay for each individual Straight within the combination of numbers, so it can cost up to $6. A Straight/Box play is a fixed $1, with half of the cost going on the Straight part of the play and half going on the Box play. If you add Fireball to any play type, the total cost is doubled.
A fourth number, known as the Fireball is also drawn in Pick 3. You can use this Fireball to replace any of the drawn numbers. This gives you more chances to win, as you could get a payout by matching the Fireball if you have just missed out in the base game. Go to the Fireball page to learn more and see examples.
There are ‘Pairs’ options in Florida Pick 3, where you can choose to try and match the first two numbers (Front Pair) or the last two numbers (Back Pair) in order. If you select three numbers, you must match them all according to the conditions of the play type you have chosen.
A Box has a better chance of winning than a Straight, and a 6-Way Box offers the best odds at 1 in 167. The odds of winning on a Straight are 1 in 1,000.
A 3-Way play means that there are three different ways those numbers could be arranged. For this to happen, you need to have two like numbers and a third that is different, such as 1-1-2. A 6-Way play contains three different numbers, and has six possible combinations.
You are guaranteed to win the full advertised amount regardless of the number of winners, as all prizes are fixed. However, the Florida Lottery may sometimes stop selling certain popular number combinations (for example 7-7-7), as they would not be able to pay everyone if those numbers were drawn. There is a liability limit of $10 million per three-digit combination.
